Here are just some of the many uses for SMS technology:

On demand data push eg: what is the weather like?

For phone users it is invaluable to know you can get the information you require when you require it. The benefits of on-demand information delivery ensures that the user is not frustrated by receiving endless, unwanted alerts, but only when they require the information.

For this demo, when you text weather to 60300, the servers look up the very latest weather forecast and you receive a text message with the summary for today for Cheltenham, UK and a forecast for tomorrow (including temperatures, currently in degrees Celsius).

SMS content management demo
A very popular method for keeping a website right up to date is to accept short news updates from a mobile phone. The system is incredibly easy to use, all that is required is to send a text message to 60300 in the format "update " followed by your message.
eg. update Today was a brilliant day at the races at the recruitment fair, we had a lot of interest in our products. Come and see us at stand H14!

The "easy to use" credit card

Providing all corporate, legal and ethical guidelines are followed, SMS reverse charge messages are an excellent way of taking payment for goods and having the cost charged to your phone bill. Generally people are very happy to purchase items this way as the charge simply appears on the bill at the end of the month. In addition to this, not everyone has a credit card, but everyone has a phone!

Payments can be taken from both contract and pay as you go users.

Payments can be for mobile phone content, or subscriptions to services or access to restricted area for a limited period, and custom messages can be returned to the user containing access codes, download instructions etc.

The reverse charge can be anything from 25p to £5.00.
