Sightrisk – www.sightrisk.com

background: Sightrisk was formed by a Fullbright Scholar Vision Scientist, an optometrist and an ophthalmic surgeon in 2008 after they had devised a method to calculate the risk to individuals of age related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in industrialised countries.

challenge:
The founders approached Montpellier Interactive with the formula they had developed and then condensed into 20 questions which were either life (e.g. diet) or ocular (e.g. eye colour) risk specific. Their requirements were for a website design that would allow online calculations to be made based on answers given to the 20 questions and for a percentage predicted risk to be given, along with a possible solution to any potential dangers.

solution: Montpellier Interactive developed a formulaic online system that processes users’ responses and calculates the percentage predicted risk. In addition, based on the information (formula and responses), a chart is produced demonstrating the user predicted risk alongside the risk after optimisation of modifiable factors (e.g. diet).

The bespoke Sightrisk solution developed by Montpellier Interactive also includes:
• Online registration and payment
• Access to scientific calculator which calculates risk of blindness based on modifiable life factors
• Build the back-end calculations and equations into the system based on the findings and structure developed by the client
• Display results clearly and concisely
• Tie in with multi-national companies allowing the system to work flawlessly with their websites but maintaining tracking and intellectual property on the code
• Online assessments case study
