background: Swop2Shop – a unique swopping and shopping experience where no money is changing hands. The Swop2Shop site enables women to list and swop their clothes for free, using accumulated points. These points are then used to buy other items of clothing on a secure web platform. The maintenance and management of the site is orchestrated entirely in-house through a system that has been specifically designed for the company by Montpellier Interactive.
challenge: Create a web design with a smart and intuitive graphical user interface which easily and painlessly allowed the addition of clothes to the site, swopping items and reviewing the transaction (in a similar way to eBay but without the transfer of cash). The user interface needed to be easy to use, and appeal to the target market of women aged between 18 and 50. In addition, the main site had sister sites for kids clothing and another one for teenager clothes. A backend system needed to allow the client full control of users, items and the site content.
solution: Montpellier Interactive provided a bespoke system that met the client brief and the need for self-sufficiency. Since that initial site was developed, however, we have continued to work with the client to create a website that has surpassed all expectation, featuring some of the most cutting-edge technology on themarket today, including a complete content management system that allows:
• Easily and quickly list items including photos
• Manage listings, relisting items and distribution of items
• Real-time reports on number of users, swops etc
• Top up of points with vouchers and integration into payment gateways
• Three different designs for different market targets
• Access to all historical data from previous transactions
• Entirely web-based solution allowing access by anyone anywhere in the world
